Eastern Express/XS
Models 1/72 Bell P-63 "Crazy Horse" Racer construction
Not a pretty sight. I'm
not sure how Eastern Express managed to take Toko's very
nice P-63 and turn it into this abomination, but they
did.
Things were much improved
at this point, but that badly warped fuselage would come
back and bite me many times over the course of this build.
Note the large bubble in
the trailing edge of the port wingtip, and also the fact
that the tips are considerably larger than the wing chord.
The latter was an easy fix, the former, not so much.
A few coats of primer and
a lot of sanding. My inital fix for the wing tip bubble
is shown here - the first of many.
Alclad black primer applied
and polished. It took a long time to get to this stage,
but it was getting there,
A comparison of the decals
I had at my disposal. ALPs and laser printed decals from
XS Models, with the Thrust Decals offering at the bottom.
Other than the largest 90 for on top of the wing, none
of the Thrust Decals markings were used due to the poor
execution and incorrect sizes.
The resin spinner was too
small, thus I used the kit spinner with some modification.
